scribblings

I've been in a writing mood for the past several weeks. I've been journaling in earnest again, (I tend to go through waves of journaling. One week I won't pick it up and write a word, and the next that's all I want to do.) I even started a story that's been floating around in the back of my mind for awhile. I don't have any idea how long it will end up, or if I'll finish it. (I don't finish projects I've started very often.) But I am having a considerable amount of fun whilst working on it, and am even making myself giggle occasionally. (Two of my four main characters are so like me it's silly. they're ditsy, klutzes, overwhelming at times and just ridiculous. They've been quite fun to write. So far Vincent has landed thoroughly in a mud puddle, ruined his favorite hat, knotted himself up in his tie and at some-point today he is going to pour tea all over himself and a friend in excitement. His older sister isn't sure what she's going to do with him. (He's twenty-three.)

I've finished reading nine books so far this year. o.O Mom asked yesterday when I have the time to read so much. :) Reading is the reason I stay up so late every single night. My favorite hours of the day are after ten o'clock, usually with tea or chocolate in one hand and some book or another in the other hand.

My bestie is coming to visit me next weekend! Weather permitting and as long as nobody gets sick this time or some other unavoidable circumstance stands in our way. She was supposed to come last weekend, but my whole family had a horrible cough/sore throat and we didn't want to get her sick. I'm looking forward to staying up late, watching movies, exploring the mall and probably some coffee shop, and going to dinner. (Hopefully at Olive Garden, or some other restaurant equally good. :)

And on Tuesday my super cool sister-in-law and I are going exploring at the outlet mall near her house. I know we'll have a blast. :)

This week has been quiet, mostly, and rather normal. Laundry, cooking dinner, assisting various children with school, reading late into the night, avoiding the cold outdoors, (It's been 40+ degrees outside. I'm just a wimp.) math and biology, needing to clean my room again but putting it off because I simply don't want to.

Lydia is growing up so fast. She is ten 1/2 weeks old and she just weighed in yesterday at 8.0lbs. :) She's so cute, and smiled at me last week. :) We're all completely wrapped around her little finger.

well, I'm off to bake a poppy-seed cake for Mama. It's her favorite and I think we make it for her birthday every year. Her birthday was actually yesterday, but she forgot and invited some friends over for dinner, so we're celebrating tonight. She wants to go out for pizza, so I think we're going to a pizza buffet.

this is a weird collection of information. can i blame it on two much coffee, a headache and many distractions? thanks. :)

ramblings // catching up on life

West Bay, Grand Cayman.
i.      hi. remember me? i'm the girl who sort of writes this blog... yah. all my good intentions for blogging get thrown out the window and i find myself realizing with regret how long it has been since i sat down at my little computer and updated my little space on the interent. it's been almost a month. but it has been a rather busy month, and i shant apologize because, well, life happens. i'm here now. :)

ii.     Lydia is doing stupendious. She is shooting up like a weed and shall soon be taller than me and I'll probably end up being the short one of the family... She's well over six pounds, I believe, and is eating like a little horse, and we're all still fighting it out over holding her and feeding bottles. Mom has volunteered to wake up whoever wishes to hold her when she has her two hour awake time in the middle of the night but so far nobody has been that desperate. :)

iii.     my brother and his amazing wife have been staying with us for the past almost two weeks. It's been super fun, and i've really enjoyed getting to know my sister-in-law better. (although it's still weird to realize that i have a sister-in-law.) they moved into their apartment today, and I am officially sad, but they'll only be an hour (depending on that darn inconvenience entitled "traffic.") away, and i have been invited and intend to visit. ;)
iv.     i got a second set of piercings this week. I plan to wear sparkly studs with all my earrings because it's fun, and cute, and who doesn't like extra bling. :) I've been thinking about it for quite awhile. (more like trying to convince my mother that it will be pretty and a good idea. ;) and it made me incredibly happy to finally do it

v.     Andrew arrived last night. i'm looking forward to visiting this week. we don't have anything really planned, but i think it will be great just to get all caught up.

vi.     i made myself a wonderful hot chocolate this evening, after spending the whole night with my aunt and Uncle and grandparents looking at Christmas lights in Portland. It was pouring down rain and i got rather drenched, and had to wash my hair again because it was a sticky mess, but hanging out with family is always fun. :)

vii.     CHRISTMAS IS IN ONLY FOUR/FIVE DAYS!!?!!?!!? That fact is a little mystifying.

so tell me whats new in your life since i accidentally went away for a while. Lots of laundry and cooking? anything interesting or weird? What books have you been reading, music you've been loving... places you visited or really really really want to visit. :) how's life?

xx,
Becca

rambles // 1

it was an overcast, drizzly and rather gloomy this morning. Mom hurried out the door around 8:30 to spend awhile in the NICU with Lydia, leaving me with the littles, guzzling coffee and willing myself awake. I'd been up for an hour but wasn't awakening very fast. :) I managed to spill almost the entire contents of my first mug of coffee all over myself and the couch in an attempt to sit down in front of the coffee. Actually, to be perfectly honest, I spill coffee on myself pretty much every single morning but not an ENTIRE mugful.

music is the thing that keeps my heart beating.

i  can't find my battery charger for my camera currently, and haven't been able to photograph in over a week. I've wanted to dozens of times and am hoping i'll find it soon. Especially before Lydia comes home. :)

Caleb (5), just lost his very fist tooth. He is growing up entirely too fast; i think i'll have to talk to him very seriously about not growing anymore. He's all kinds of adorable. (And glares at me and turns a bright pink every time i remind him of his cuteness.

Thomas is coming in 14 days!!!!! I'm getting more excited every day. The last time we saw him was on his wedding day, December 7th, 2013.

Um, guys. Thanksgiving is only a week away. o.O and Christmas is in 34 days, and 2015 is in 41 days!!!! *please excuse me while I scream for a moment...

Coffee is wonderful. amazing. brilliant. delicious. gorgeous. Coffee understands my great need for it to always be around. Coffee knows I can't handle a long distance relationship. I need the commitment, and the knowledge that Coffee will be there for me every morning, to cheer me up and make me smile and happy. ;)

I'm hoping to find a Nanny position in the next several months. I love kids, and I have a TON of experience in the babbysitting/nannying/cooking/cleaning department of life, so I think Nannyng would be a perfect job.

I attended my very first swing dance last Saturday. Long-story-short, I officially love swing, but desperately need/want lessons. My big brother is an amazing swing dancer, and he's gonna be here for a few days round Christmas. I think I'll have him work with me a bit. :)

the sun came out of hiding and the snowman melted

The sun came out of hiding today, showing itself off with a background of blue skies and fluffy white clouds, and melting poor Mr. Snowman.  And he was a pretty cute guy originally. :) The snow is mostly melted, and the ground is saturated with the cold water, but my horse loves it anyway. We put her out on the lawn yesterday and she thought it was heaven. The grass was soaked though but she ate as though it were the most delicious grain-molasses feed. :)

The sun proudly streamed though the upstairs window this afternoon, landing on the picture and cross at the bottom. Sunshine is what I love and miss most about Summer. The golden rays flooding though the windows pleading with us to come out and dance in the golden light.

The kiddo's had pita pizzas for lunch, and they were delicious. (Although they aren't allowed on my diet, I did shamelessly eat a piece. Or two. Cheating on diets is good for the soul. Somebody must have said that, I'm sure. :)

Blue sky is so amazing. I don't really understand completely where it gets its brilliant hues, but all I know about that is that it's purtty.

Despite me rambling on about how beautiful today is, do know that it is only about 40 degrees out there, so I quickly snapped these photos and returned to the house and my tea. :)

Aren't pine-cones interesting little things? Each so different and unique and a lot of fun to study. (and photograph.)

My goats soaking up the sunshine. (And that brown one sorta in the barrel? I used to do that when I was little and taking naps. Mom has a picture of me all sprawled out, clutching my blankie, with my head and shoulders in a bucket. I musta been a weird kid, that's for certain. :) Here's a photo for proof, peeps. :)

And please know that I debated posting this. It's just kinda, weird I guess, posting photos from when I was little. :)

Clouds. <3

How has your day been? As beautiful outside as mine?

And a report on Mr. Snowman. I took these photos about two hours ago, and he is now considerably smaller. It looks as if we are going to lose the poor feller. :)

Have  and wonderful rest of the day, lovelies, and eat some chocolate and sing a really happy song, kay?

girl + camera + spring = wildflower photos

Hello awesome people.
You really are awesome, ‘cause you put up with my frequent blogging boredom's!! J It feels like my life is just the same all the time, with nothing new to post about.
But, today I do have a bunch of photos. It was so lovely out, warm with blue sky, I decided to go for a walk and take some photos of the little wildflowers all over our property.

My little bottle-fed goats are doing amazing. All the kids have been feeding them this whole time, and it is really nice not to have to do it!

Every year a city near us puts on a Passion play, of the Passover, Crucifixion, burial, and rising again of Christ. We didn’t make it to the Passover part, but went to the Crucifixion and burial last night. It is always so real to watch it. This year, two friends from church were the two thieves on the cross. (It was just a little funny to see them up there. My little siblings have been laughing today about seeing the guys in their ‘underwear’ (more like shorts!! J) We are going to the Resurrection on Sunday.
I had another goat kidd last night, but both the babies didn’t make it. One was born dead, and the other died shortly after it was born. It is really frustrating to loose babies and mamas, and not know what went wrong. The mama, my favorite goat Aleen, isn’t doing very well, and we’re gonna take her into the Vet Clinic in a little bit. (As soon as the vet gets there. It’s a Saturday afternoon, the worst time to have a problem, ‘cause the vets off, and they have to come in special just for us!! Which also means it will probably cost more…)
I am really hoping that the last two mamas to kidd will have no problem, and that their babies are all fine. We’ll have to see though, with my luck the way it’s been. J

On a happier note, I think spring might be here to stay!!!!! The last few days have been amazingly beautiful; I even bought myself a new pair of sunglasses!!!! It’s always exciting to buy new sunglasses.

And, my big brother, Thomas, is off at a huge amusement park in Korea right now!! Seriously, aren’t you supposed to invite your sister along on trips like that?!? (Not really, roller coasters and rides like that freak me out completely!!J Plus, I don’t think I could afford the plane ticket…)

You should look up Korean food sometime. He says it’s really good, but personally, squid legs and oysters just don’t sound too great. I love my steak and chicken, thanks! Seafood tastes way to much like fish… go figure! :P (I’m not a seafood gal!)

Ok, I’m done rambling!

xo,
