watching the sky change

i love when the sun starts to sink in the horizon and bathes the earth in liquid gold for a few minutes at twilight. the whole world glistens like a jewel, and I wish it could last forever instead of just a few moments. I think I could spend hours staring at the constant changing sky, especially at sundown. i've always thought that sunsets are a beautiful love note straight from God. they certainly display and magnify His creativity and beauty!

"That men may know from the rising to the setting of the sun that there is no one besides mee. I am the Lord, and there is no other." Isaiah 45:6

sunsets // fighting the light

The other day my little sister asked me to take some photos of her to send various pen-pals. I almost tried to explain that taking pictures at almost-dusk doesn't really work, but she has asked me a couple times, (every-single-time-being almost dark outside,) so I didn't explain again. We went out and fought the light to get a few decent pictures. And at one point I turned around and snapped these, because the cloud/tree/sunlight combination was stunning. I get frustrated easily when taking photos like these, though, because try as I might, I don't feel like I can do the sunset perfect justice. It was magical that night.

i'm off to go finish the laundry, take some ibuprophen (i've got a wretched headache this afternoon. I think I might be getting sick again. It seems like this winter has me sick 98% of the time...), and then I am going to put together an outfit for a guest post I agreed to do, and read some more of "After the Funeral" by Agatha Christie. I recently started reading her books and guys I fell in love. Mysteries have always enthralled me, and I can't believe that I didn't start reading her works before. They're quirky, the murderer is always someone you have a love/hate relationship with and the writing is beautiful. I highly recommend them. (Especially paired with a LARGE mug of earl gray tea.

What does your drizzly, gray afternoon consist of? {Assuming of course that you are experiencing the wet, depressing weather that I am experiencing.}

Oh, and as a side note, I have a question for all of those who have gotten ear piercings. I got my seconds pierced seven or so weeks ago, but they haven't healed. In fact, they're bleeding every day still and hurt like crazy. I am wondering if any of you have experienced that, and if so, WHAT DID YOU DO? I really don't want to have to take them out and let them heal up. I do have really sensitive/allergic skin, but I bought earrings that are specifically for sensitive skin types. Anyway, I would love any advice or ideas!

Don't you know? Haven't you heard? Don't you understand the foundations of the earth?
God is enthroned above the earth, and those who live on it are like grasshoppers.
He stretches out the sky like a canopy
and spreads it out like a tent to live in.
He makes rulers unimportant,
and makes earthly judges worth nothing.
Have have hardly been planted,

They have hardly been sown.

They have hardly taken root in the ground

Then he blows on them and they wither
and a windstorm sweeps them away like straw.
"To whom, then, can you compare me? Who is my qual?" asks the Holy One
Look at the sky and see.
Who created these things?
Who brings out the stars one by one?
He calls them all by name.
Because of the greatness of his might and the strength of his power,
not one of them is missing...
Don't you know? Haven't you heard?
The eternal God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth,
does not grow tired or become weary.
His understanding is beyond reach.
He gives strength to those who are weak.
Even young people grow tired and become weary,
and young men will stumble and fall.
Yet the strength of those who wait with hope in the Lord will be renewed.
They will soar on wings like eagles
they will run and won't become weary
they will walk and won't grow tired.
Isaiah 40:21-26, 28-31

words come and go like the tide

inspire. create. love. aspire. bold. wanderlust. blue. travel. music. hope.

                   I love words.
I love the way they sound, and roll off my tongue. (Which means I love to talk! J). I love how they look when they’re arranged in a beautiful sentence. I guess that’s why I write.  I love words; I just have to use them, and thus I attempt to write. Some days writing is so fulfilling. Ideas, sentences and words form themselves in my brain and flow into my fingertips beautifully, making me happy and content. Other days, the words seem to fly away to other places, other skies and other people, and I just can’t write. Those days, writing is frustrating and difficult, and all I want to do is scream and maybe cry.

I live for the days when the words come and flow out of my fingertips. And I push through the days the words insist on playing tag and evade my thoughts and fingers like little children playing hide-and-go-seek.
I love words. So I shall name myself a stalker of beautiful words, a vicious reader, and perhaps even a writer.

colors dancing in the sky

I love the intense colors in the sunsets that seem to dance across the sky as though the clouds were bidding this part of the world adieu and sail off to other skies.
They're so beautiful this time of year, and I have been enjoying shooting them lately. Sunsets are something that is just gorgeous, and aren't super complicated to capture, so while I've been experimenting with Manuel mode and all that lovely stuff, it's been nice to have something lovely to capture. Now I need to learn how to capture the same thing from different angles so that I don't end up taking photos of different sunsets in the same exact places every day. :) That would get old, even for me!!
Do you have any tips for how to look for different angles? Actually, I would love to get any tips from the photographers that read my blog!! I am so new to really pursuing photography, and I would love your tips. :)
Can you believe that Christmas is in only seven days? This holiday season has gone so fast it amazes me, and makes me quite dizzy to think that in two weeks this year will be gone. o-O
Tell me what your favorite things have been this month so far, and what you're really looking forward to in the next thirteen days, 'kay.

Don't you LOVE clouds!! I do, as long as they are NOT going to bring
any more snow!! :)

And this is my darling little brother, Caleb. So cute!!!!! :)

All the little children, (minus a few!! :) :) :) )
Sunsets!!  I could take pictures of sunsets all day long!

Well, update on my brother. He enlisted in the army, and is HOPING to get into the army Rangers. I wrote that wrong on my last post. His ship out date is in August, so we still get him for a while.

Anyway, have a wonderful day, and God bless.
