it's a girl thing // pink and sparkly

This afternoon I attempted to take some "it's a girl thing" pictures of  my outfit from church. And after the normal long time it takes to set up my camera, figure out settings that will work with the indoor light, and find the proper angle... etc, and then actually taking the photos, (a feat accomplished by perching my camera on my bookshelf and running back and forth between self-timers...) I decided to ask one of my siblings to head outside with me to snap a few. :)

Can I just mention something that drives me insane? Okay. Curling my hair. Why does it look gorgeous one day, (Friday for me.) and then you try to do the same thing a day or two later and it ends up looking like a tangy scary mess? What am I doing wrong?
Outfit details:
Skirt: Some shop in China {29.99}
Silver Sweater: Goodwill {6.99}
Purple Cami: Fred Myer's {12.99}
Shoes: Kmart: {4.99}
Head Band: Gift {0.00}

I don't know why I still have these shoes. They hurt like crazy and give me blisters every single time I wear them. But they're nude so they go with almost every outfit. Actually. I do know why I still have them. They were on clearance last year, for 4.99. They were such a bargain, that I can't make myself get rid of them, even though they are probably the most uncomfortable pair of shoes I have ever worn. Okay. I think I'll look for a new pair on Tuesday when I go shopping with Sarah. :)

I think this is what the rest of my afternoon is going to consist of. ^ Catching up on bible study... studying. journaling and the baby name book is for character casting. :) I'm going to head down stairs to make myself a cup of Paris tea, complete with a dollop of cream and a small spoonful of sugar, and then come back upstairs to write and read and relax.

it's a girl thing // Comfy and Blue

Chevron Maxi: Goodwill {6.99)
Chambray button-up: Khols {19.50}
Polka-dot Scarf: Thrifted {3.99}
Black flats not pictured as usual: Walmart {12.99}

I grabbed this skirt at Goodwill and am insanely happy about it. A chevron skirt was on my "updated wardrobe" list, and it felt good to be able to check that off. (I am a list-crosser-off'er-obesser. Being able to cross something off makes me insanely happy.) And maxi skirts are pretty much the best thing since... well maybe even better than sliced bread. 'cause you know what? Slicing bread isn't really that hard. Why do we say that? It's not like it takes hours, or a college education, or even a certification. It literally takes all of five seconds.
     Anyway, we're all sick with coughs and sore throats, and I wanted a comfortable outfit today. (Because my mama has issues with staying in pajama's all day.)

I am loving my double piercing. :) It's so much fun to wear two studs like this and just feel sparkly. :)

Well, I'm off to make some tea, do some more laundry and probably read To Kill a Mockingbird. What does your Tuesday afternoon look like?

It's a Girl Thing // Cozy and bright {and photograph personalities}

despite the multiple warnings yesterday afternoon that i wanted to take a picture of him and  that i would be posting whatever results i got wether they were attractive or not, these pictures are the result of twenty minuets of negotiating. I rather like them, as candid and "non-posed" as they are. They capture his personality, and that's the entire purpose of photography to me.

 that's a homemade dirty chai. you should be insanely jealous. it was delish and only a fraction of the $5.50+ that i've payed various places for them. (in case you are uncultured and haven't lived properly, :) a dirty chai is imply a Chai Latte (and a Chai Latte is spices and strong black tea mixed with a sweetener and frothed milk,) with several shots of espresso added. Talk about caffeine. Only get them when 1. you are extremely tired, and 2. you plan on being awake for a very long time.)
it's raining. it's cold. and it's very gloomy. But I got a stack of books from the library a few days ago, and am able to drink gallons of tea without anyone asking any questions, so it's all good. and i'm a happy girl because I FOUND MY CAMERA BATTERY CHARGER!!!!! it was in the "hole" (front part thing that has the cup holder and is always insanely full of junk,) in the van. Heaven knows what it was doing there, but that's unimportant because the only thing that matters is that I found it! :)

My cozy outfit from yesterday:
Skirt: Gift
Denim Leggings: Walmart (12.99)
Brown tee: Goodwill (5.99)
Tied Cardigan: Goodwill (6.95)
Obnoxious but extremely warm Orange Socks: Gift

r e a l

I realized, whilst thinking lately, that I portray myself very differently online than I do in the every day. I use massive words, (as opposed to smaller expressions which plausibly would be more effortless to comprehend,) in an attempt to sound more educated. :) The pictures I post are the ones in which I look as close to perfect as possible. (i.e. nice smile? check. clothing all laying right? check. make-up? check.) But that's not who I am.
If you were to follow me around for the day, you would discover several things.
1) I'm weird. As in, really really weird. I have strange pet peeves, I have strange habits, (and the first time I typed that I typed habbits, because of rabbits... :)
2) you would discover that i'm really insanely klutzy and dorky. I trip over things that aren't there, and regularly fall down the stairs. just because.
3) most days if we aren't going out, my hair looks awful and I won't have make-up on.
4) I'm not the sweetest person on earth. in fact, I'm super sarcastic, and my temper runs away with me more times than i'd like to admit.
5) I'm more of a country girl redneck (I'm being honest, see?) then you would EVER guess, especially if you've only seen me in group settings, or when I'm not entirely comfortable. (Mostly group settings. people can be SCARY. :) loud mufflers? of course. you wanna take me mudding? absolutely. Shooting guns? take me with you! i admire trucks, and everything, at least in theory, can be fixed with duct-tape and super glue

So, this post is random, and has some blooper photos, (I was scared to death to post them, but inspired by this sweet girl.). some of these pictures are WEIRD but for some strange, unknown reason, they captured my fancy.

i don't know why i liked this, except that it makes me think of Peter Pan, and losing his shadow. Yes, that is a movie I regularly watch with my little siblings, along with Bambi, Robin Hood, the Aristocats and Jungle Book.

the leaves are starting to die and fall to the ground, in a last tribute to the beauty they once were.

 this is posted because I threatened him that if he didn't make a nice face, I'd just go ahead and post one of the awful ones. He didn't make a nice face... :)
in case you have never tried this, I suggest you do in the next moment of absolute boredom: Take your camera, and set the shutter speed for 1.5 to 2 seconds and then spin in a circle, whilst taking pictures continuously. You should get one or two that look like this, (And a whole bunch that are awful and should be thereby deleted forever. Because if anybody saw them, they would question your abilities as a photographer.

and a preview of an outfit post that should be up in the next couple days. :)

happy october!
(I'm so glad i live in a world that has Octobers.)

outfit post // floral dress

i recently accidentally signed up to do a fashion guestpost. :) I thought I was signing up to receive email notifications from a blog, and then the author emailed me, ready to schedule my post. and she wanted an outfit for a special event, like a wedding or something. and i was {and still am} way from home at the time, so my wardrobe was quite limited, but i did bring this dress with me, so I threw it one one sunny afternoon, took some really awkward run-back-and-forth-from-the-camera-to-posing-spot-tons-of-times-and-hope-the-neighbors-aren't-watching photos. They aren't amazing, but there you go. :)

Dress: Made by me
Shoes: Walmart
Earrings:Walmart
Make-up: Cowgirl Dirt

what do you always order at a coffee-shop, lovlie?
xx,

pea. ess. i get either a white mocha or toffee latte/fappuccino, generally, unless I am daring and order something new. :)
