rambles // 1

it was an overcast, drizzly and rather gloomy this morning. Mom hurried out the door around 8:30 to spend awhile in the NICU with Lydia, leaving me with the littles, guzzling coffee and willing myself awake. I'd been up for an hour but wasn't awakening very fast. :) I managed to spill almost the entire contents of my first mug of coffee all over myself and the couch in an attempt to sit down in front of the coffee. Actually, to be perfectly honest, I spill coffee on myself pretty much every single morning but not an ENTIRE mugful.

i  can't find my battery charger for my camera currently, and haven't been able to photograph in over a week. I've wanted to dozens of times and am hoping i'll find it soon. Especially before Lydia comes home. :)

Caleb (5), just lost his very fist tooth. He is growing up entirely too fast; i think i'll have to talk to him very seriously about not growing anymore. He's all kinds of adorable. (And glares at me and turns a bright pink every time i remind him of his cuteness.

Thomas is coming in 14 days!!!!! I'm getting more excited every day. The last time we saw him was on his wedding day, December 7th, 2013.

Coffee is wonderful. amazing. brilliant. delicious. gorgeous. Coffee understands my great need for it to always be around. Coffee knows I can't handle a long distance relationship. I need the commitment, and the knowledge that Coffee will be there for me every morning, to cheer me up and make me smile and happy. ;)

I'm hoping to find a Nanny position in the next several months. I love kids, and I have a TON of experience in the babbysitting/nannying/cooking/cleaning department of life, so I think Nannyng would be a perfect job.

I attended my very first swing dance last Saturday. Long-story-short, I officially love swing, but desperately need/want lessons. My big brother is an amazing swing dancer, and he's gonna be here for a few days round Christmas. I think I'll have him work with me a bit. :)

Caleb :a documentation

This is Caleb. He's four; cute as a button; smart; funny; and just downright adorable. This is a documentation of who he really is, summed up in nine little pictures. His personality is so fun, and he is quite entertaining! :) The only way I got a real natural smile out of him was to ask him to tell me a joke, and then take pictures as he announced the punchline. He is always busy, a social butterfly, if that's the right words to describe him. He can't last for more than a few seconds in silence.
Sometimes, when he is in trouble, we send him to another room to be by himself for a little while, and he can't handle it. Within a few minuets, he's yelling for mom, announcing that "he's happy and better now!" (whereas, the six-year-old will sit in another room for an hour without making a peep, :) Caleb is energetic; he can't hold still, he avoids vegetables, and only hurries while eating dinner if there is dessert.
Last night we went down to the river for a impromptu picnic and swim. I decided to take a walk, to just have some peace and quiet and perhaps take some pictures. I ended up with my four-year-old and six-year-old brothers, and we had a blast. They wanted to take pictures of each other, and  these are what Luke (6)  captured of Caleb. (except the last one.) I held the camera for him, and he looked through the viewfinder, and pushed the shutter. I think he captured Caleb quite well! :)

I have the cutest siblings!! :) (Luke and Caleb.)

cute boy named Caleb

This is Caleb, and he’s three. He’s sweet, adorable, and oh so busy! He’s always making some craft or another, or leaving a trail of tiny pieces of paper all over the living room, left over from a paper cutting session. He smiles the cutest, he just can't help scrunching his face up all funny when I tell him to smile in front of a camera. I was out milking my goats a couple mornings ago, and felt the urge to take portraits, so I grabbed the nearest kid, (Caleb. :) and perched him on the fence. So I could get the sky in the photo, ya see… He was too short to get the sky in the photo any other way!! :)

And then we got the classic “boy and dog look into the distance,” photo. That’s such a classic, and it happens almost every time I pose one of the kids with the dog. I think it’s cute!!

Haven’t I got the cutest siblings in the world?!

i love being a big sister

I love being a big sister.

I love love love love love being a big sister. It is absolutely amazing being able to tell your little sister how excited you felt the day she was born, and being able to tell your little brother what that you liked to do exactly what he is doing, when you were little.

It is so fun to rescue your little brother from a tree, as he is about to fall out of it, and then hold his hand, because he won’t walk unless you do (!!) all the way to the house.

Today my two-year-old brother came out of the girls’ room, where my 6-year-old sister had just dressed him up in a cute little dress. He was walking out the door, through the kitchen, where I was peeling some vegetables, and he was saying to himself, “I am a girl.” I took one look at him and realized that the poor thing was having an identity crisis. I pulled the dress off over his head, and explained, trying to make it at a 2-year-old level. “No, you’re a boy, not a girl. Boys wear pants and boyish shirts, not dresses. Now go outside and play with some toy guns or swords.” And with that, sent him outside. J It is rather funny, seeing as though I used to dress my brothers up in dresses and myself in boys cowboy clothing. We actually have pictures of my older brother and I and all the little ones, (or as many were born at the time! J) dressed as the opposite gender. Now, I’m trying to stop my little sisters from doing the same. Funny how your perspective changes as you grow up!! J

Caleb (the two-year-old)

I love watching little kids play, and stopping their little fights and arguments, and holding their hands, and tickling their necks, smothering them with kisses, and reading them stories.

I just love being a big sister!!!!! J
